The Town of Duxbury was founded in 1637 and is located in Plymouth County about 33 miles south of Boston.

Many beautiful and historic homes from the Pilgrim period still exist in Duxbury. The town population is about 15000.

Duxbury contains a salt water beach as well as a summer time pool along with the North Hill Golf Course and Country Club.

Bats in the Band Family Fest

 South Shore Conservatory presents the ninth season of the Duxbury Music Festival (DMF), with DMF faculty and student performances from July 20 through August 1. Nestled in the South Shore seaside town of Duxbury, DMF draws international undergraduate and graduate students who wish to participate in an intensive program for the study and performance of solo and chamber repertoires. Spectacular performances open to the public culminate the training these accomplished musicians receive during the Festival. In celebration of the efforts of the DMF faculty and students, and with the help of more than 150 volunteers, the Conservatory’s Duxbury Music Festival presents a multitude of community events.

About Duxbury Music Festival

Duxbury Music Festival (DMF), a program of South Shore Conservatory, is an intensive program for solo and chamber instrumental performance, unique to all of New England. Founded with the knowledge that music enriches the human spirit and upon the belief that this enrichment endures, DMF brings faculty and students from around the world to the idyllic seaside community of Duxbury, thirty-five miles south of Boston and twenty miles north of Cape Cod. DMF is a 16-day intensive program for the study and performance of solo and chamber repertoires for undergraduate and graduate students and adult professionals.  Duxbury Art Association's Midsummer Art Show Cocktail Reception on Saturday night, Aug. 9th will be held in the Duxbury Bay Maritime School's boatshed and on the surrounding lawn. Fast-Paced Adult Full Moon Hike
Take a fast-paced 2.8-mile hike along gravel, paved and natural surface trails. This hike is for adults only and are very fast! Please do not make this program your first choice if you have been directed to start exercising. We hike 2.8 miles in less than an hour over hills and uneven terrain (in the dark.) Discover the night sky even in the most urban of settings during this indoor presentation by volunteer astronomer Jay Young. If sky conditions are favorable, telescope viewing will also be available. The "Night Sky Series" is an indoor astronomy series designed to provide a better understanding of our night sky. Outdoor viewing will depend on the program topic and weather conditions. Natural Play Area Adventures: Creek Safari
Take a 1-mile roundtrip hike to Spring Creek and venture into the cool waters to search for aquatic life. There is a 1/2 Đmile hike required to get to the creek. Please wear close-toed shoes (old tennis shoes or other water hiking shoes are the best. Velcro sandals and flip- flops are not a good option.) Lois Tarlow: Metaphor

For “Metaphor,” Lois Tarlow used handmade paper and dry pigments to respond to the natural world and explore the power of memory through subtle, poetic suggestions. Held at The Art Complex Museum, “Metaphor” is the artist’s first solo exhibition. There will be an opening reception on June 1 from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
